Workshop Draperies and Valances

Workshop Format/Project focused: Home Dec

If you've been shopping for drapes/valances any time in the last century you know the phase "One size fits all..." is just not true. Instead of giving up on your home dec dreams, why not learn to make them a reality. Literally! This workshop is designed to teach you how to create lined valences or draperies quickly and easily. In class we'll start with a mini sample so you can grasp the concept and then move on to calculating the yardage and construction necessary. Freedom gained! You'll be able to re-dress every room in the house.

Skill Level: Beginner

Skills reinforced in this class:
     Cutting, Pressing, Maintaining a consistent seam allowance

Please bring the measurements of a window or windows

Supplies Needed:
     Pattern/Project sheet: Supplied by Smile Spinners
     Fabric: Smile Spinners will supply fabric to make your mini sample
     Thread: Quality Polyester

Tools Needed: Basic sewing supplies
     Rotary cutter: 45mm or 60mm (Olfa recommended)
     Ruler: 6x24 or 8x24
     Scissors: Thread snips (5") and fabric cutting scissors (Gingher recommended)
     Pins: glass heads, .5mm shaft diameter, 1.25 shaft length
     Sewing machine
