Sewing Basics 103 - Pressing Matters *

Skill Builder: Pressing Matters
Format: Lecture/ Demo/ Hands on

A class on pressing? I often have people tell me that they don't think they need a class on pressing. Then I ask if they could talk for 2+ hours on pressing? Well can you?

As the title says, pressing truly does matter. It can alter the outcome of an entire project and most times it is not in a good way. In class we will discuss: Tools; What pressing tools are available, when and why we would use them? Grainlines; How do we distort our fabrics? Steam; To steam or not steam? Starch; Do we starch or not? Shrinking out fullness; How to hover? Steady Betty products; How Steady Betty can change your pressing life? How to press strips, squares, bias, seams, and sew much more! Safety; Tips and tricks!

Join one of our sewing basics classes and learn the skills of pressing for garments and quilts.

This class is encouraged as "Pre-Recommended" for many intermediate and advanced level lectures and project workshops.
